Going to the Olympics

2012

We’re going to the olympics, a last minute decision. I’d not been sold on the idea of the Olympics, but I’ve really got excited about the whole thing, so we decided to take the boys and inspire them. The boys may only see this once in their lifetime, so would be a shame not for them to go and join in.

9.55am and all smile as we get on the Tube train at Epping, the face sure will be different when we get back, all four of us are exhausted, pains, blisters and two plain grumpy little men.
image
As we got on the train it started to rain, so hard the doors were leaking and a huge puddle formed inside the train, much to our amusement.
image
We managed to find a vantage point under a hotel car park, but just close enough to see from a distance the Mall. Made a dry place to have a picnic, which was better than most had.
image
Trafalgar Square, Luke had walked about two miles and was grumpy, but like a little trooper he walked all day and apart from several rest stops for drink and food he pushed on all day. He’ll sleep for 100 years tomorrow, but he and big man were absolute stars.

image
Lunch, the sequal, we grazed all day, the little men liked to have a rest every now and then to recharge and have a bit to eat. 10 mins later and off again.
image
Admiralty Arch, not as busy as we’d expected, but a good crowd anyway.
image
Right up the front as the leaders ran past (25 miles) and they could still outrun me. But I am 3 of them anyway, I could always sit on them to slow them up.
image
Big Ben, Little Man, Big Man and Little Woman, 4 happy faces. Only one is guaranteed to be on time.
image
All still smiling, 3 big men still happy and reasonable dry. It started to rain about then so we pushed on before the crowds started to move.
Now off to the Natural History Museum.
image
The boys love this place so we had to visit, just to see the Dinosaurs, millions of years old, so shouldn’t have expected much to have changed. This is always a hit, big man is getting quite knowledgeable now, about the differences and types.

Big man treated himself to a museum lolly, anything to keep him quiet.
image
So, we all had one. Little man’s eating one, but watching for a chance to get the other one.
image
Why do boys moaning their legs hurt feel the urge to have to chase pigeons, they didn’t catch one, but tried hard. Good on them.
image
After a couple of hours, what to do next???? Off to Tower bridge.
image
The Tower of London, wonder if they have a room spare? I need a rest.
image
Still smiling, but the bribes are getting bigger to make it look genuine. The legs on all of use are beginning to hurt.
image
Nicola admiring the massive new erection. “What a big skyscrapper!”
image
A one in a million picture moment, and big man lets us know how his legs hurt. They had done really well walking so far today, I know how he feels.

A few minutes after this the rings lifted up, I had no idea they moved.
